Finding People to Grow With

Happy Girl on the Rise Wednesday,

And Hump day, we can’t forget about hump day!

Today’s newsletter is 752 words (3-minute read).

This week’s affirmation:

“It is okay for me to outgrow the people who don’t support my growth“

“If you’re trying to bloom, stop hanging with weeds.” - Taylor Horst

Finding Your Growth People

Growth is beautiful!

But let’s not pretend it’s easy…because it definitely isn’t.

That’s why it’s important to surround yourself with people who support your growth.

When you’re on the journey to become the best version of yourself, you need people in your corner who get it. People who don’t judge when you talk about therapy, journaling, breaking cycles, or rewriting your entire identity because you finally realize you deserve more!

You need people who will both push you forward and ground you in the present. Friends, who will be there when you question everything, feel like you’re breaking, and want to return to your comfort zone. But instead of letting you give up, they remind you that it’s part of the journey and you can, in fact, do the hard things.

These types of people are your growth people, and they are a vital part of your journey of becoming.

Now, I’ll be the first to admit that these types of friends can be challenging to find sometimes, especially if you’re an introvert who prefers the company of your dog over people (not calling myself out or anything).

But finding your growth people doesn’t mean you need to put an ad out on Facebook, hand out flyers, or shout into the busy streets.

Finding your people doesn’t have to be that energy draining. In fact, it shouldn’t be.

A Few Simple Ways to Find Your Growth People

  1. Join communities aligned with your values: In today’s digital age, there are endless opportunities to find like-minded individuals without having to leave your home. Search for support groups on Facebook or check Meetup for local groups in your area. There's a good chance that you’ll be able to find one to connect with.

  2. Be brave enough to be seen trying: Don’t hide that you’re trying to level up in your life. Post about. Talk about it. Don’t hide yourself away. Growth-minded people notice growth energy, and they’ll find you. Don’t make it harder than it has to be.

  3. Start the kind of conversations you want to have: Vulnerability attracts authenticity.

Closing Notes…

You weren’t meant to shrink to fit into small spaces. You were made to grow and bloom and be in good company while you do it.

If your current circle doesn’t support your growth, doesn’t clap for your wins, or doesn’t see the version of you that you’re trying to become, it’s okay to outgrow them.

Go find your people. Your growth people.

Because sometimes you need someone who just looks at you and says, “Girl, you’ve come so far. Don’t you dare give up now.”

Until next time, keep going and keep growing.
