Why Quitting Isn't a Dirty Word
Hey there,
Happy Hump Day! There are only 52 hours until the weekend. You can do this! Today’s newsletter is a 3 min read (532 words).
I have a confession to make…
I’m a quitter. (gasp)
Actually… I’m a chronic quitter. (double gasp)
But before you clutch your pearls, hear me out.
I don’t quit because I’m weak or lazy. I quit because I’ve learned the value of walking away from what no longer serves me. I quit because something didn’t light me up, didn’t make me feel aligned, or simply ran its course.
One of the things that no one tells you growing up is that…
Sometimes, quitting is exactly what you need to do to grow.
But it can be hard to see this lesson. Especially if, like me, you were told to never quit. That you should “stick it out,” “finish what you started,” or “see it through no matter what.”
But the truth? That’s outdated advice built for a world where people stayed in the same job or relationship for 40 years, even if it made them miserable.
We don’t live in that kind of world anymore.
You’re allowed to change your mind.
You’re allowed to walk away.
You’re allowed to quit! With one exception…
You can’t quit on yourself!
👉🏻 You can quit the job.
👉🏻 Quit the program.
👉🏻 Quit the relationship.
👉🏻 Quit the project.
But don’t you dare quit on you!
💕 Don’t quit on discovering what lights your soul on fire.
💕 Don’t quit on building the life you actually want.
💕 Don’t quit on becoming the woman you’re meant to be.
Listen…
Experimentation is how you figure out what feels right for you. It’s unrealistic to expect yourself to love every new thing you try.
But if you don’t quit what’s not right for you, how can you discover and make space for what is?
So if something isn’t right for you, if it drains your energy, dims your spark, or weighs on your heart…
Give yourself permission to quit!
Not because you’re giving up.
But because you’re choosing you!
One question for you this week.
What is one thing you need to quit?
Okay, I think that’s all for now.
Until next time, keep going and keep growing.
