Your 2026 "Not To-Do List":
Happy Girl on the Rise Wednesday,
It’s here! The last month of 2025. That means we’re officially stepping into the season of goal-setting, planning, vision boards, and big dreams for year 2026. BUT…before you decide what you want more of this next year, you need to think about what you’re no longer available for, which brings us to this week’s topic.
This week’s Girl on the Rise Newsletter is 745 words (2-minute read)
This week’s affirmation:
“I release what drains me, and I welcome what energizes me.”
Making Space for the Life You Actually Want.
Ahhh, the new year. Tis the season of long lists of habits to start, goals to chase, and responsibilities to add. But before you start making your lists, I want you to stop and think about what you no longer have room for. Why? Because to make space for the life you actually want, you have to clear out the things that are holding you back.
You can’t rise to the life you want if you’re weighed down by the things that drain you.
To help you do this, I’m going to challenge you to create something far more powerful than a traditional To-Do list:
Your 2026 Not-To-Do List!
Unlike a To-Do list, a Not-To-Do List is a list of all the things you’re done carrying - because your energy, your peace, and your future self deserve better.
It’s easy to keep adding things into your life. The hard part is taking a moment to analyze what you need to take away so you have room to add what you want.
None of us is superhuman (a girl can dream, though). We all have a capacity limit. And most of the time we’re operating at, and even over, our capacity limit. This causes us to burn out. And if you’re burned out, you don’t have the energy to live and create a life that lights you up.
When you remove what drains you, you don’t just create more space, you free up capacity for clarity, creativity, joy, confidence, rest, expansion, and alignment.
You create space for YOU! And that sounds like some good space to have.
A few ideas for your 2026 Not-To-Do List:
Saying ‘yes’ out of guilt or fear of disappointing someone.
Holding onto relationships you’ve outgrown (Bye, Karen).
Staying busy to avoid your feelings (uh huh, I see you!)
Ignoring your intuition (this one’s on mine).
Delaying something you want until “the timing is right” (Sorry sis, but the only perfect time is now).
Playing old stories instead of focusing on writing new ones.
These are just some ideas. Your list will be unique to you, and what you know is holding you back.
But your list should be able to answer this one question very clearly:
“What am I done allowing to take my energy, time, and/or power?”
Don’t make 2026 the year you try harder. Make it the year you choose better. This is the year you stop chasing things that aren’t meant for you and start making room for the things that are.
